Description

The Battletroops Rulebook contains rules that allow players to conduct infantry-based small unit actions in the Battletech Universe. Bridging the gap between the Mechwarrior/RPG micro-level and the Battlemech-based Classic Battletech macro-level, it uses its own rules system to provide players with the means of playing out battles between squads of infantry. Also included are rules for incorporating vehicles and battlemechs into game play, as well as information on areas not covered in any other rules system, such as how the setup of an interior of a building can become a critical component in a scenario.

The idea of being able to play out scenarios at this mid-range level, though highly intriguing to some, is nevertheless bogged down by issues of continuity between the other game systems (Battletroops, for example, does not used a hex-based map). Also, the lack of rules revisions, the notable absence of any post-4th Succession War technologies (battle armor, rules for Clan units, advanced equipment, etc), and a lack of support in subsequently published works, means that it can almost be considered a non-canonical off-shoot of the Battletech Universe.
