The Crossroad was a DropShip in service with the pirate band known as the Red Raiders in 2604. It was aboard the bridge of the Crossroad that the leader of the Raiders and ruler of Tortuga Prime, Major Frederick "Krasny" Kolonov was challenged and killed by one of his subordinates, Lieutenant Mitch Hibbert, after a failed raid on the planet Memphis in the Federated Suns. Hibbert went on to lead the Red Raiders, and was the first ruler to be appointed Duke of the Pirates of Tortuga.[1]

- The Red Raiders pirate band was built from the survivors and equipment of a former Armed Forces of the Federated Suns BattleMech regiment, the 237th Light Cavalry Regiment.[1] It is therefore likely, but not certain, that the Crossroad was a former AFFS DropShip, although the Red Raiders had been supporting the population of Tortuga Prime and the other worlds of the Tortuga Dominions by raiding border worlds since 2589, so it is also possible that the Crossroad was a DropShip seized during one of the Raiders' bandit raids.
