History
Founded in the early 30th century, the command was hired by the DCMS in 3023, when they had reached regimental strength. The command surrendered to an overwhelming force on the Lyran border. After the 4th Succession War they worked for the FedCom. For the next three decades their contract was extended until 3052 when they signed a new one with the FWLM.[1]
Marik High Command accused the mercs of taking bribes from the smugglers, but the intervention of the WoB changed their attitude. The unit then signed a new contract with the Blakists. During the invasion of Dieron, Hannibal's Hermits supported the 8th Division, but was destroyed in 3070 through the Ghost Bear counter-invasion, when they liberated the planet from the Blakists.[2] The destruction of the Hermits had been confirmed by 3081.[3]
Officer
Hannibal Aufkophen is noteworthy for having rebuilt the heavily damaged unit from the ground up.[1]
Tactic
The 2nd Battalion generally scouts a designated area to locate the enemy and calls in the 1st and 3rd Battalions to deliver the final punch. In defensive engagements, 3rd Battalion acts as the anvil, to 1st Battalion's hammer. The 2nd Battalion acts as a flanking reserve.[1]
Support
The unit gained support from the WoB, because the unit lacks sufficient technical staff to support its operations. The unit possesses sufficient DropShips for half of the command, but the only JumpShip (a (Leviathan-Class)) can't carry them all at once.[1]
