The Kenneth Oakley was a Merchant-class JumpShip constructed for the Interstellar Expeditions company and which was due to enter service in 3098 as the IES Kenneth Oakley alongside a sister ship under construction at the same time, the IES William Boyd Dawkins. Both ships were part of a construction program that Interstellar Expeditions paid for using the proceeds of the company's many shrewd and profitable investments made in the early 3080s by the previous CEO. The introduction to service of the Kenneth Oakley and the other new ships marked a significant expansion in Interstellar Expeditions program of expeditions and research.[1]
