Description[edit]

The Moray Heavy Attack Submarine is an undersea fire-support vehicle originally produced for the SLDF's Royal CAAN Regiments. The submarine was designed to work with the lighter Manta Attack as part of an undersea team.[1]

The design served originally with SLDF until its demise, when it and the Manta became virtually extinct during the Succession Wars era. ComStar eventually found some surviving units that remained on Terra and decommissioned them. However, after the Word of Blake reactivated the Sungdong-STX Shipbuilding's production line, they put the Moray back into limited production to provide escorts for their Wyrm SDS Submersible Fortresses. After the liberation of Terra in 3079, the Morays captured by the Allied Coalition were used to hunt down the remaining rogue Blakist-controlled Wyrm. After the war, the Republic of the Sphere retained the design in service to support of the remaining Wyrms under their control.[1]

The Moray is designed to handled incredible abuse by enemy fire, which is why it was given 18 tons of ferro-fibrous armor and CASE to prevent ammunition explosions from completely destroying the ship.[1]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Moray features split between the main body and its turret. The vehicle's turret holds a Ten-tube Long Range Torpedo launcher, one of the ships' Six-tube Short-Range Torpedo launchers and its Extend Range Medium Lasers.[1]

In the ship's bow the sub has a pair of Twenty-tube Long-Range Torpedo launchers and a single SRT-6 launcher. A single LRT-10 launcher and SRT-6 are mounted in ship's aft to round out its weapons.[1]

The ship carries three tons of ammunition for each of its LRT-10 and -20 launchers, with four tons delegated for the SRT launchers.[1]

Variants[edit]

Original
  • The SLDF's version developed in 2635[3] of the Moray only differs in that it carries a pair of Medium Lasers instead of ER Medium Lasers[1]. BV (2.0)=???[3]

Notes[edit]

As of this writing, there is no public record sheets for the Moray.
