Raymond Cameron

Raymond Cameron (Born 2348 - Died 2387)[1] House Cameron nobility, military officer, and 4th Director-General of the Terran Hegemony.

Character Description

Raymond for most of his adult life had physical deformities on his face and else where. He would over the years grown more aggressive and irrational.[2]

Character History

Early Life & Career

Elder son of Margaret Cameron, Raymond had grown up to be a pilot. However, his career was cut short after his fighter he had been piloting had an accident. The results disfigured him, and left him with other heath problems.

By 34 years old, he married Katherine McQuiston from the Federation of Skye, a member of one of the founding families of the Lyran Commonwealth.[3]

As Director-General of the Terran Hegemony

His mother had been suffering from years of health effects from surviving cervical cancer. After becoming too frail to rule, she choose to retire in 2382. The High Council, despite his being sterile, choose Raymond as her successor.

He continued his mother's tough trade restrictions, despite Lyran hopes of his marriage with a scion of the nation would soften his views. During this time, his wife Katherine felt abandoned by Raymond due to his attentions focus on the affairs of the state. She then in begun affair with his brother, Brian.

As time went by, he became more and more irrational, and became more heavy handed with his orders and mandates.

In 2385, Raymond faced problems from world of Bryant. The planet had grown tired of the mandatory enlistment of his population into the HAF. They voted have Lord Raymond to alter the law so its citizens would not have to be part of conscription. Raymond did not respond well with it, threaten the people of Bryan with cut off of all funds to their world and military retaliation for their decent. This threat caused Bryant withdraw from their protest of the law.

After other such actions by Raymond, he found that Hegemony government became more resistant to his orders. This forced him to take emergency directives in order to get laws he desired to become official.

In late 2387, his wife becomes pregnant, which creates a national scandal. Raymond is brought to the boiling point, where he has his brother arrested. The Hegemony public suspected that he would file charges of treason against him. High Council of the Hegemony tried persuade to change his mind on the trial, but they fail to convince him.

After the meeting, he went to the cloak room in the Halls of Justice. There he suffered coronary and died.[4]

Amidst scandal and birth of his wife's child with Brian, the High Council would named the son of Terran Congress President Sonya Dukirl, Mitchell DuKirl, as Director-General Pro Tem until permanent success could be found.[5]

Family & Legacy

Raymond was sterile and was unable to have children. His wife, through scandal with his brother, had son, Richard. He would later be succeeded by his brother a year after his death.[6]
