After Kalma's Mercenary Company, Inc. wins the Company vs. Company tournament of Galatea against Carmody's Cavaliers, the current champions. Their victory gives them visibility, and Count Sessa Lottimer approaches Duncan Kalma with an offer to hire his unit for a Periphery military. Within a few days, Duncan's Demons leave for the world of Kyeinnisan where they are to meet a representative for "final approval".[1]
