Description
The Tyrannos Rex was a former military DropShip which saw service with Federated Commonwealth and later the Federated Suns. The ship was de-militarized after the events of the Jihad and saw service as a Freighter. The ship became part of the merchant fleets of the Republic of the Sphere by 3130. The ship few years after the blackout of the HPG grid in 3132, became inter service of renegade RotS Prefecture VI Governor, Duke Aaron Sandoval as mobile palace and headquarters.
Ship History
Rescue of Aaron Sandoval II
On New Canton in October 3134, the Tyrannos Rex had recently lost its cargo due to planetary government seizer. The ship's commanding officer and master, Captain Gus Clancy, had witness the crash of Duke Sandoval's Union Class DropShip Kiwanda off shore of the Baraso Island Spaceport. On a hunch, Captain Clancy had suspected the Duke had survive the crash, suspected he would be needing hire a ship for large sum. Losing his profits from the seizer of the cargo and very upset local government. Clancy and his crew of the Tyrannos Rex step-in and rescue the ragged and exhausted Duke and his surviving staff from local security forces.
The 'Rex is safely off planet, lost its pursuers after three day travel to the Jump Point, where a JumpShip awaited him. Once revived, the Duke attempted to buy the ship from Clancy and failed. However, after haggling with Captain Clancy, hired the ship to be his personal flagship.[1]

The Tyrannos Rex travels to SwordSworn's Fleet staging area where they make arrangements to ship revised for Duke's needs. They quickly within few weeks after transferring personnel, they travel to Azha where ship refit took place. There, Duke hires some of best shipwrights he can find along with number of craftsmen. He has the ship exterior painted shiny silver, with huge SwordSworn emblem adoring its sides of the ship. A "notch" is created in hull, with false Greek columns[2]
In late November, Tyrannos Rex arrives Ningpo, where Captain Clancy conducts highly spectacular flyover of the planet's population. On the landing pad, Captain Clancy conducts highly skilled landing stunt with the ship's main thrusters.
Once on planet, Duke Sandoval invites the planet's leading politicians and notable celebrities to the ship for a dinner. In the finished areas of his palace on board. The finished areas' resembling a grand palace, help Duke swoon planetary dignities and the local celebrities in joining his coalition. [3]
The ship would travel to Poznan where the Duke would attempt convince the disgruntled population to join with him. However, alert would arrive to set the ship motion to rescue Swordsworn forces on besieged world of St. Andre. Duke Sandoval has the ship gather BattleMech forces to counter-assault the Liao invasion of SwordSworn held fortress on the planet. On Christmas eve, the Tyrannos Rex and three Union Class DropShips first their weaponry and fighters to render Liao DropShips attempting land troops on Fort Ravengale into buring wreckage. Then Tyrannous Rex and other ships of Swordsworn squadron drops its payload of BattleMechs with Duke Aaron Sandoval leading the way. The assault is successful and saves the Swordsworn forces on the ground from destruction.
After safely repulsing Liao assault, the Tyrannos Rex lands at the Fort.[4]
Notes
Spelling, in the novel, the Tyrannos Rex is misspelled. A Excalibur Class DropShip that was converted into a Pocket WarShip in Jihad Hot Spots: 3070 named the Tyrannosaurus Rex was listed. It unclear if this ship is the same as the one listed in the earlier Dark Age novel.[5]
