Quick question: what code do I use to change the color of certain text? I thought <nowiki><color=brown></color></nowiki> would have worked, but it does not. --[[User:Revanche|Revanche]] ([[User_talk:Revanche|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Revanche|contribs]]) 05:08, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

:Unless you want me to create a template, you should use <nowiki><span></nowiki>, one of the few HTML tags allowed in the wiki. Try this: <nowiki><span style="color:blue">example</span></nowiki>. == Tripitz edit ==
 +
Hi Ebakunin, in your recent cleanup edit on the ''[[Tripitz]]'' page you removed the "''{sic}''" part from the bolded initial mentioning of the name. Why? I feel it is important to stress right out of the gate in the article that this "misspelling" is actual canon. In its current form, this information is hidden in a footnote which I feel could be confusing for readers. [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 03:03, 8 July 2019 (EDT)

==Transcluded==
+
:Hi Frabby. I removed the ''{sic}'' because it's not a misspelling "in-universe" but rather an editor misspelling that became canon. However, I'm not terribly invested in the difference. The change has been been reverted. Thanks. --<span style="font-family:Courier">[[User:Ebakunin|Ebakunin]]</span> ([[User talk:Ebakunin|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Ebakunin|contribs]]) 18:52, 8 July 2019 (EDT)
Ebakunin, requesting a kludge be shoehorned into [[MediaWiki:Common.js/edit.js]]: can you ensure that no "{" is next to another "{"? As it is, the templates this script allows you to insert are actually transcluded. While I theorise that there might be other side effects, MediaWiki:Common.js/edit.js currently appears in the categories that those templates bestow.

While we're on the topic, could you make it so you can insert stuff in the summary field too? (Might be more work than it's worth though…) --[[User:Xoid|Xoid]] 07:10, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

== Moratorium ==

:Hi Xoid. I can do both but it'll take quite a while. The problem is that all the content is done via JavaScript, which by definition is a nasty hack. So I'll need to hack the hack for the kludge to not turn buggy. That was fun to write.
+
Hey Ebakunin,

:On a separate note, I'd like to remove the <nowiki>{{template doc page transcluded}}</nowiki> template from the /doc pages. The reason is that they can be confusing to the average user. The people who want to actually modify a template are few and far between and are likely to know (or figure out on their own) where the documentation is. The vast majority of viewers will just be curious as to how the template works. Words like "transcluded" just complicate things. As an example I modified [[Template:!|<nowiki>{{!}}</nowiki>]]. If you disagree you can always rollback the changes. Thanks. --<span style="font-family:Courier">[[User:Ebakunin|Ebakunin]]</span> ([[User talk:Ebakunin|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Ebakunin|contribs]]) 01:19, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

::Having that lil' link there saves time when you're a lazy bastard like myself, and I'd prefer that they stay. (They're also an easy way to tell whether something conforms to the TDP or not.) Rewording the template itself so that it's easy for people to figure out that the edit link there is for the poor schmucks who have to come in and correct documentation errors seems a better solution. --[[User:Xoid|Xoid]] 05:17, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the changes you made on [[Icaza (Bloodname)]], I've reverted some of them. We always add the clan where it comes from as there are too many mixed bloodnames, and this can help identify this. Also, warriors are ordered by rank, and inside rank, by first name. Hi,

== ''Question'' ==
+
I noted in your recent edits that you're changing the links for OmniMechs to only one of their dual name. May I ask why? I had deliberately used their dual-name article naming scheme in the lists, e.g. ''[[Hellbringer (Loki)]]'', because both names are equally "official" and relevant in the context. Also, I cannot see a pattern as to when you're using the Clan name and when you're using the IS reporting name? [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 02:40, 10 September 2020 (EDT)

I noticed, while re-arranging your ship list in ''[[Icons of War]]'' to the established format, that you've used disambiguation names, e.g. "Boarhound (Individual DropShip)". While not per se wrong, it seems superfluous to identify the Boarhound as a DropShip when it is the only known vessel in all of BattleTech to bear that name. Conversely, in cases where disambiguation is required, the exact ship class (if known) is also added, e.g. "Botany Bay (Individual Gazelle-class DropShip)". Hey, Ebakunin. Welcome back. In regards to my use of references & biblios ([[Imperial City]]), it was decided by consensus a while ago that the reference section should be reserved for direct citations of text within an article, while biblios would be used to document complete titles (as well as other sources) that can be reviewed for further information. This was  a decision (again, thru consensus) to more adequately meet the citation requirements of real word serious scholastic methods. No one has yet gotten around to adding this req to [[Help:References]], but since I've launched [[BattleTechWiki:Project Unfinished Book]]'s first mission, I decided I had better start working towards that standard.  --[[User:Revanche|Revanche]] ([[User_talk:Revanche|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Revanche|contribs]]) 04:54, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

== Year page headers ==

Another topic (more important): as we firm up the Year page [[Policy_Talk:Year_Pages#Style_rules_set_via_global_CSS_file|redesign]], MBear has inquired into using CSS to plug the headers into the sheets. A) is this feasible? B) Would it complicate manually transitioning the actual data into the consensus format?--[[User:Revanche|Revanche]] ([[User_talk:Revanche|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Revanche|contribs]]) 00:20, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

:Depends on whether you want a template or a bot. A template is easy and completely configurable, but would have to be added by hand to each year page. A bot does everything automatically but would require actual coding (no wikicode). I'm unsure whether a bot would work in this case, though, since it would have to know ''where'' to place the banners in the page. That really requires human intelligence (or a massive amount of programming). --<span style="font-family:Courier">[[User:Ebakunin|Ebakunin]]</span> ([[User talk:Ebakunin|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Ebakunin|contribs]]) 03:00, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

:::Since my name was mentioned (and not taken in vain) I thought I'd just drop in here and comment. The proposal was to add CSS classes on the three headers on the year pages. Updating the template for the year page to include those class names automatically wouldn't be a huge problem. Since we'll probably end up doing the updates by hand anyway, I thought I'd just put the idea out there. (I'm in favor of automating as much of the boring drudge work as we can.)--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 17:59, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

::::Chiming in: Four headers, not counting the yearlist template and the category tag. However, though I know nothing about this CSS stuff ya'll are throwing around, I do want to say I too am for automatic efforts as much as possible, as long as it doesn't erase data currently published on the Year pages AND we do it before getting too far into the manual overhaul of the pages.

:It's a preference thing. Several years ago the specs for HTML were updated. The old way is &lt;br&gt; and the new way is &lt;br /&gt;. On a different note...[edit]

On a different note... Welcome back, I noticed a few days ago you where about, it has been about a decade since I have seen you around these parts!--Dmon (talk) 00:12, 7 July 2019 (EDT)

Tripitz edit[edit]

Hi Ebakunin, in your recent cleanup edit on the Tripitz page you removed the "{sic}" part from the bolded initial mentioning of the name. Why? I feel it is important to stress right out of the gate in the article that this "misspelling" is actual canon. In its current form, this information is hidden in a footnote which I feel could be confusing for readers. Frabby (talk) 03:03, 8 July 2019 (EDT)

Hi Frabby. I removed the {sic} because it's not a misspelling "in-universe" but rather an editor misspelling that became canon. However, I'm not terribly invested in the difference. The change has been been reverted. Thanks. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 18:52, 8 July 2019 (EDT)

Moratorium[edit]

Hey Ebakunin,

Just want to remind that your Marotta Kerensky article is still subject to Policy:Moratorium until 18 July. I am sure you are aware, so I am more doing this so I know I am doing my job Wink.gif --Dmon (talk) 19:46, 26 May 2020 (EDT)

We were literally editing it at the same time. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 20:39, 21 August 2020 (EDT)

Ack. Sorry man. I fixed the content. I don't own the other book. We need better way work out who doing what update. I've on most part done most of the updates on new products. Literally last thing i can do since everyone so fast to add stuff to the wiki. -- Wrangler (talk) 20:46, 21 August 2020 (EDT)
Don't worry. The conflicting edits happen. I was bit weebit upset. but it happens. There is a template that says "undercontruction". However, i've yet see anyone use it in years. I've haven't sever conflict-edits in literally years. Not since Doneve was still active editing. We ran over each other edits all the time. lol. Hopefully we can avoid this next time. --

Bloodname Clans[edit]

Hi,

Regarding the changes you made on Icaza (Bloodname), I've reverted some of them. We always add the clan where it comes from as there are too many mixed bloodnames, and this can help identify this. Also, warriors are ordered by rank, and inside rank, by first name. Thanks!--Pserratv (talk) 14:00, 5 September 2020 (EDT)

In the case of Icaza, I removed the clan source as the intro specifically says the Bloodname is exclusive to Jade Falcon, i.e. they are no mixed Bloodnames in this House. Otherwise, you're right, I should have placed Magnus in the correct order. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 15:35, 5 September 2020 (EDT)
Just saw that. Though it is true that all bloodcount belongs to one clan, it is possible to be made abthaka to another clan, and we have tried to keep that information there also.--Pserratv (talk) 12:23, 14 October 2020 (EDT)

OmniMech names in listings[edit]

Hi,

I noted in your recent edits that you're changing the links for OmniMechs to only one of their dual name. May I ask why? I had deliberately used their dual-name article naming scheme in the lists, e.g. Hellbringer (Loki), because both names are equally "official" and relevant in the context. Also, I cannot see a pattern as to when you're using the Clan name and when you're using the IS reporting name? Frabby (talk) 02:40, 10 September 2020 (EDT)

Disambiguating ship names[edit]

Hi,

I noticed, while re-arranging your ship list in Icons of War to the established format, that you've used disambiguation names, e.g. Frabby (talk) 10:01, 14 October 2020 (EDT)

Katana Tormark, Duchess of?[edit]

Hey Ebakunin

I have been trying to figure out for years what exactly Katana Tormark is the Duchess of. In your latest edits you have her listed as Duchess of Proserpina with the source being Dark Age: Republic of the Sphere, p. 34. Opening my copy of the source however I can't find any mention of her being linked to Proserpina. Is it possible there are different versions of the source?--Dmon (talk) 18:07, 31 October 2020 (EDT)

I was just doing the housework of adding the missing link for Duchess of Proserpina. The original article text said she was the Duchess and I took it at face value. I was wondering about that too... neither of her parents seemed to have had royal titles, so I don't know how she gained one. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 18:14, 31 October 2020 (EDT)
Damn, I was hoping for a breakthrough.--Dmon (talk) 21:09, 31 October 2020 (EDT)
She we the strip out the Duchess info? --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 21:31, 31 October 2020 (EDT)

Protected Images[edit]

I've tried to edit these 3 images to assign them to their correct Gallery, but it says they are protected by you: Sarnabar2.gif TIS3.jpg Rasdom userbar.jpg--Pserratv (talk) 07:47, 19 March 2021 (EDT)

There was some cascading protection set following the protection of the userpage proper. I've kept the protection in place on the user page but unchecked the cascade option. You should be able to work with the images now. If there's a problem still, drop me a line. Frabby (talk) 09:36, 19 March 2021 (EDT)
Thanks!--Pserratv (talk) 05:11, 22 March 2021 (EDT)
Thanks for handling that Frabby. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 19:31, 24 March 2021 (EDT)
