Overview[edit]
The Wakizashi is a type of Japanese shortsword, the companion blade to the katana. Together they are known as a daishō, the traditional symbol of the ancient samurai, and wearing the daishō is an honor restricted to graduates of certain prestigious military academies such as the Sun Zhang Academy.[1]
