The Ninety-seventh Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
In 2738, the 97th engaged terrorists on the world of Gallery. Using their skills in underground combat, the 97th were able to split the terrorist group into four groups. Three of the groups surrendered while the fourth was destroyed to the last man.[1]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the XXX Corps, Twelfth Army, to District 2 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery.[2] The Ninety-seventh was destroyed during the Periphery Uprising in 2765.[2]

Tactics[edit]
The 97th Mechanized Infantry Division was one of the few specialized units within the SLDF. They were often called in when large numbers of enemy combatants were located underground or in enclosed spaces.[1]
Composition History[edit]
The Division comprised two Brigades of Mechanized Infantry and a single BattleMech Brigade. Also attached was a Ground Aero Wing.[3]
