Overview[edit]
In 3020 the 17th Skye Rangers engaged in a two day duel with the First Regulan Hussars at the Battle of Kendrew's Crossing on Amity that nearly destroyed both regiments. The Skye Rangers were able to gain the upper hand, forcing the Hussars to stage a fighting retreat off world.[1][2]
On the first day of the battle, C Company from 2nd Battalion of the 17th Skye Rangers encountered two full companies of Regulan Hussars on a training mission. The company's Marauders and Warhammers engaged Charlie's Crusaders in a furious battle, inflicting heavy damage to the outnumbered Steiner forces. But the Rangers kept their heads cool and fell back to their optimar range and scored devastating damage to the advancing Marauders. Despite heavy damage from the Hussar's PPCs, the Skye Ranger's Company retreated orderly and Charlie Company inflicted enough damage to the Hussars to deter their pursuit. When the unit reached the Ranger's base, it was refitted by crack House technicians and was back in action withing a single day.[3]
Tomaso Kinchuhara's battalion from the 1st Regulan Hussars held a vital egress route as the Hussars retreated off world, allowing their escape. For his bravery he was given command of the First, and inducted into the Order of the Saber.[1]
