Laramie was present on Tikonov in 3083 for the Republic of the Sphere offensive, Operation VINDOLANDA. He faced a Maelstrom of Stone's Lament who had not encountered the CRD-8L Crusader before, and closed to short range expecting few weapons. Instead, Laramie's plasma rifles inflicted heavy damage and forced the Maelstrom into Shutdown. With the Republic lines broken Laramie and his lance plunged into the rear areas and caused considerable damage before a former-Clansman in a Summoner destroyed Laramie's Mech.[1][2][3] Captured by Republic forces Laramie would remain a prisoner of war until the 3085 Treaty of Tikonov ransomed him back. In a testament to Laramie's skill, the technical specifications of the CRD-8L was a Republic demand in the Treaty.[1]
