The Forty-second Dieron Regulars were stationed on Halstead Station in 3050.[2]
In June 3052, two weeks after the Battle of Tukayyid, the Third Jaguar Cavaliers launched a surprise attack on Tanh Linh, held by the Second An Ting Legion supported by the Forty-second Dieron Regulars. The Second Legion relied on night-fighting tactics to disguise the strength of the resistance while the Smoke Jaguars tried to engage the bulk of the Combine forces. Two weeks later, the Cavaliers were able to corner the Forty-second Dieron against a mountain range and proceeded to destroy two battalions of the Regulars before the An Ting Legion was able to attempt a rescue. Caught between the Legion and the remaining Regulars, the Cavaliers acting commander Star Captain Oleg Nevversan was knocked out of the fight, and his unit forced from the world with heavy losses. It was a costly victory for the Combine, however, as the Forty-second Dieron was destroyed, and the Second An Ting was heavily damaged.[3]

- Note: At this point in time the unit was stationed on Halstead Station,[2] and support units included a medium aerospace fighter company, and a regiment each of combat vehicles and conventional infantry.[1]
Colors and Unit Insignia[edit]
The pragmatism of the Dieron Regulars means they prefer to use only battlefield-appropriate camouflage schemes. If so ordered, all Dieron Regulars regiments paint their equipment white with gold trim, with the amount of gold signifying their level of experience. The Kuritan Dragon is fixed to a BattleMech's right shoulder, with the Dieron District's starburst insignia below it. Regimental Insignias are painted on the upper left legs. Conventional machines paint the insignias in their corresponding locations.[4]

- Combat Manual: Kurita describes the Fourty-second as destroyed in 3050.[1] Given the abundance of information that supports 3052, the assumption is that CM:K is in error, though it is the later publication.
