Plot Summary[edit]
As Tortuga Dominions pirates with 'Mech support raid the city of Sawyer on Charleston, Corporal David Talbot and his infantry maniple experience their first combat action. In the chaotic urban fighting they are eventually confronted by a Phoenix Hawk, but since its cockpit is already damaged Talbot can shoot the pilot from an elevated position.
He awakens on a stretcher to find that he lost an arm in the fight and that only one other trooper besides him survived; but he managed the unthinkable and downed a BattleMech!
