During the Sarna campaign of Operation RAT in 3029, Paul Dobbs was part of an assault lance with the Black Cobras, First Company, commanded by Lieutenant Fiona Fields.[1]
Before making planetfall, the Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers accelerated away from the rest of the planetary invasion force and landed two days early, only to find themselves outnumbered four-to-one and faced traps, minefields, and other Capellan tricks from the local militia and McCarron's Armored Cavalry. Dobbs overheard one of the majors say the Davion intel had inaccurately placed the Big Mac on Palos.[2]
In September, the fighting against McCarron's Armored Cavalry at Graves Hallow had started, and by November 30, Paul Dobbs and his lance had been split off from the rest of First Company and had taken cover in the hills, barely managing to survive. On December 1, Lt. Fields led her isolated assault lance in an attack on two medium lances from the McCarron's Third Regiment. As it turned out, the Davion Heavy and Light Guards were already in-system and about to make planetfall. Their orbital 'Mech drop scattered them across a wide area but one lance from the Light Guards led by Leftenant Gerald Drake was able to reinforce their position.[1]
