Rupert Samsonov was the commanding officer of the Twentieth Rasalhague Regulars during the Ronin War.[2]

History[edit]

When the Free Rasalhague Republic was formed in March 3034, Tai-sho Samsonov and the Twentieth Rasalhague Regulars became Ronin. On Memmingen, Samsonov and a small squad of infantrymen marched into the planetary parliament and declared the current governing session closed. When three senators protested, Samsonov had them killed where they stood and replaced them with his own Heishi. Two of these soldiers, Heishi Rupert Strom and Heishi Brent Miyako, nominated Samsonov as Valdherre of Memmingen and the rest of the cowed parliament unanimously agreed. Samsonov's first act as planetary ruler was to enact martial law until the planet could return "to the Dragon's breast". Subsequent efforts to claim the planet's HPG station were not as successful, as the Comstar DropShip Coherent Thought destroyed the armor company assigned to take the facility.[2]

Samsonov's military junta ended when the First Sword of Light arrived and challenged the Twentieth's command staff to a series of one-on-one BattleMech duels. Over the course of four hours, the Twentieth Regulars lost several key officers at the cost of only three members of the First Sword of Light, leaving the mostly leaderless unit to flee into the Boru Mountains' Isasaki Mining complex to hide. After establishing a new Republic Valdherre, the First Sword of Light began hunting down the remnants of Samsonov's unit.[1]
