The Ronin faction in the Ronin Wars were those elements of the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery who refused to accept the formation of the Free Rasalhague Republic in one way or another in 3034, rose up in arms, and were thus branded ronin (masterless samurai) by Kanrei Theodore Kurita whose authority they had challenged with their actions.
Although their uprising was coordinated to a degree, whether or not they were a unified faction is arguable; they were not a monolithic organisation in any case, but rather a summary phenomenon of several largely independent uprisings on several different worlds that happened around the same time and for similar reasons. Marcus Kurita briefly acted as a secret leader from behind the scenes, but he was killed one month and eleven days into the uprisings; another important figure was Tai-shu Vasily Cherenkoff.
