Stepan von Strang was the ruler of the Barony of Strang during Operation REVIVAL.[1][2]

Stephan von Strang was the direct descendant of Gunthar von Strang, an inhuman war criminal of the Rim Worlds Army during the Amaris Civil War. After the dissolution of the Rim Worlds Republic, individuals from the von Strang family would conquer the planet Erin, rename it Von Strang's World and turn it into a one system Periphery Kingdom where the von Strang's would rule. Stephan would be the last ruler of this small empire.[1]
When the Clans discovered that the Periphery contained a world named after a notorious villain from the days of the Star League, they viewed this as a way to punish the descendants of Gunther von Strang as well as their first major opponent during the invasion. Bidding for the attack on the world was fierce, but Clan Jade Falcon won the bid and its senior Khan Elias Crichell would lead the attack.[1]
When they arrived in the system in 3049, the Clan's hope a facing a descendant of the von Strang became reality. They issued a batchall to the planet but only received a vitriolic rebuke from Stepan. Stepan's family hatred of the Star League and paranoia of invasion led him to recognize that he was facing the children of Kerenesky's Exodus. When Stepan made it clear that there would be no holds barred in the coming battle, Khan Crichell's forces landed on the planet after fending off the Baron's aerospace forces. The Khan and his Turkina Keshik found that the Baron's Guard Division was formidable and well prepared for an invasion. The Falcon forces were led astray and slowed down by Amaris City's well-armed fortifications and cul-de-sac traps in the city's valley. After the Jade Falcons penetrated and disabled the fortifications, they pushed ahead into the city and were nearly outmaneuvered by the Baron's force. But a recon fighter happened to discover their opponents 'Mech and tank forces attempting to flank the Falcons from behind. The Jade Falcon forces turned to meet their foe and were able to overcome the Guard Division, with Khan Crichell single-handedly killing Baron von Strang in a one-on-one duel between their 'Mechs.[2]
After the battle, Stepan von Strang's body was hung from a flagpole at his palace along with the banners of the Star League and Clan Jade Falcon. However, according to legend, Stepan' body fell from the flagpole on the day that Comstar defeated the Clans on Tukayyid. Some say that as the body fell, they could hear Stepan's laughter in the wind.[2]
