Coventry with Dark Age Info[edit]

I noticed someone decided to list Coventry as part of the Republic of the Sphere in 3130. Anyone mind pointing me to where that was first mentioned? Because last I checked, and from the maps I've seen of the IS in 3130, Coventry is quite a long way from the Republic's borders. unsigned - Arthinas (Talk | contribs)

We've been having some folks putting information since DA Republic Worlds.pdf and 25th Anniversity art book since they've come out. I'm not sure why its in there myself, but i'll fix that. -- Wrangler 11:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Settlement era[edit]

Coventry is definitely not shown in 2341 during the formation of Lyran Commonwealth but according to the text from Handbook: House Steiner p80 that the planet was settled during the "massive human exodus from Terra", which was around the early 23rd century. I hope no one's going to say it was depopulated in the Age of War because the Age of War didn't happen until around 2398. The Formation of the LC predated this convenient excuse for inconsistency. -Volt (talk) 19:18, 29 July 2014 (PDT)

Coventry isn't on the 2341 map, so it wasn't settled at that point. According to the BattleTech eras page - which cites references in the original Periphery sourcebook, there were two major exoduses from Terra - the intial colonization exodus of the 23rd century, and then a later exodus - I think the article is referring to the internal migrations that occured because of the widespread conflict between nations. Coventry was definitely inhabited during the reign of Robert Marsden because he was building military schools there, which means it had to have been colonised before 2390. You can pose an Ask The Writer question about it, but I suspect the simple answer was "it wasn't settled by 2341, but was settled between 2341 and 2390." Alternatively, if Østein replies, he may say that it's an error on the 2341 map, but a lot more questions are going unanswered on the forums these days than used to be the case, so I suspect you'll not get an answer. I have not received one answer from the forums in over a year I believe. I'll just mark it as not settled in the years prior to 2571 for simplicity's sake. Getting tired of being ignored, to be honest.-Volt (talk) 01:42, 30 July 2014 (PDT)

Battle of Coventry[edit]

Would we possibly be better splitting off a lot of the military action against Clan Jade Falcon into it's own article... Bring the focus of this article back to the planet itself.--Dmon (talk) 13:24, 3 April 2017 (EDT)

Looking at the amount of detail, I think it's worth a separate article on the battle(s) for Coventry being generated, but a summary should stay in the Coventry article - maybe a paragraph or two, explaining when it started, when it ended, how it ended, and which units were involved? That way, the planet article would remain a springboard for those wanting to learn more about it. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:55, 4 April 2017 (EDT)
