War of 3039[edit]
On July 15 3039 the Third Ghost Regiment and Fourth Ghost Regiment landed on Breed and engaged the defending FedCom forces (Second Robinson Rangers and First NAIS Cadre) in a mobile campaign. The DCMS made the FedCom defenders believe that the invading force was much larger than the two incoming regiments. After the landing, the fight continued for three weeks without a clear winner. The Fourth Ghost got new orders to continue their raids deeper into enemy territory, and the Second Robinson Rangers were recalled to Robinson to increase the defense for an anticipated attack, which never occurred.[2]
In 3040, Yasir Nezumi, the oyabun responsible for staffing the Third, was killed after assuming Theodore Kurita would support his assassination of Theodore's father, Coordinator Takashi Kurita. The kuromaku brought Nezumi's head to Theodore and performed the rites of yakuza apology. This did show the level of loyalty of the korumaku to Theodore, but the Third's loyalty to the DCMS died as well. The Third carried a "questionable" loyalty rating for much of their existence. Each battalion of the Third Ghost was drawn from a different yakuza clan, and they tended to think of themselves as separate units instead of a single regiment, which often hurt their capabilities.[4]

Dominion War[edit]
During the Dominion War, the Third Ghost launched an attack on Marawi, where they were destroyed by the Seventeenth Provisional Garrison Cluster and the Thirtieth Provisional Garrison Cluster.[5]

Tactics[edit]
The Third Ghost is the most traditional of all the Ghost Regiments. They tend to favor stand-up fights rather than the integrated attacks preferred by Theodore Kurita. They also tend to operate as separate battalions rather than a single regiment; this is a holdover from their origins.[4]

Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]
The Ghost Regiments painted their machines with a base of light gray, effectively white. The Ghost Regiments did not maintain a brigade-style insignia as they did not function or were administered as a brigade.[9]
The Third Ghost used a white accent on their machines. As former yakuza, they painted full-body scenes on their 'Mechs, and the Third painted a water stream that starts at the center right of their torso and splits into two streams, one on the left arm and the other down the left leg. The left side of each unit is therefore blue-green.[10][11]
