The Third Federated Suns Lancers LCT was formed as part of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns defensive rearmament program of 3132, that led to the expansion of the Federated Suns Lancers into a full brigade.[1]
However the Third Lancers would not survive the fighting on Tikonov in 3145 after being forced to retreat from New Moscow by the Fifth Sian Dragoons.[2] The survivors were temporarily rolled into the Eighth Crucis Lancers before being transferred to the Second and Fourth Federated Suns Lancers.[1]
