Description
Designed in first years of the 32nd Century, the Aquila Aerospace Fighter was a joint-project between Oriente Protectorate and Rim Commonality. The projects that lead to the building the Aquila goals were to develop a long-range and fast Aerospace Fighter which could hit with high accuracy.
Taking advantage of its long-range guns, the Aquila used in long-range sniper attacks on unescorted Small Craft and DropShips. The fighter would first be deployed into action in 3105, during the Victoria War against Capellan Confederation. The fighter made a name for itself as part of the Protectorate's defense forces protecting Shuen Wan. Then unknown fighter to the Confederation forces, were able engage the invaders at long-ranges. While only fight of it responding squadron survived the encounter, helping to convince the enemy forces withdraw from Shuen Wan.[3]
Armament and Capacities
The Aquila's true qualities come from the fighter's speed and long-range firepower. The Aquila's frame is armored with 11 tons of ArcShield IX AO Ferro-Aluminum, giving the fighter responsible armor protection from incoming fighters. While the Aquila's true defense is its speed, which is able to move upwards to 11 gees of thrust thanks due to its Hermes 275-Rated Extra-Light Fusion Engine.
Its signature weapons makes the fighter stand part from others is its twin nose mounted Oriente MagCoil Model E Light Gauss Rifles been allotted three tons of ammunition. Backing up the Light Gausses is a pair of Diverse Optics Extended-Range Extended Range Medium Lasers, with one mounted each of the Aquila's wings.[4]
