Planetary History[edit]
Early Succession Wars[edit]
A Sian Commonwealth planet and subsequently a Capellan Confederation holding for most of its history, Shuen Wan was conquered by the Free Worlds League during the First Succession War at some point between 2796 and 2801. In mid-2804 a Capellan counterattack reclaimed the world, but by the war's end Shuen Wan had returned to League control.[12][13][14]
Shuen Wan was again retaken by the Confederation in 2834 when the League's disastrous Operation HAWK gave them the chance to do so. The planet remained under Capellan rule at the war's end.[17][18]
Third Succession War[edit]
At some point during Maximilian Liao's reign, Shuen Wan was conquered again by the Free Worlds League, most likely between 3010 and 3025.[44] Tsen Shang served as a Capellan MechWarrior during the unsuccessful defense; he and other disgraced survivors became known as the Liao's Lost Legion. In addition, its native kincha fruit became a rare commodity within the Confederation, both due to its refusal to grow elsewhere and Chancellor Liao viewing its consumption as a treasonous act.[45][46]
Operation GUERRERO[edit]
Shuen Wan was one of a number of worlds that saw combat during Operation GUERRERO, with Barrett's Fusiliers fighting on behalf of the Free Worlds League until their redeployment in support of the Capellan Confederation.[47]
The Jihad[edit]
On 17 July 3073, forces from the Capellan Confederation raided Shuen Wan as a response to the retaliatory raids conducted in late May by the Duchy of Oriente against the Capellan worlds of Boardwalk, Eom and Jasmine in May - raids conducted in response to the savage attack on Les Halles by Warrior House White Tiger earlier in the year. As a warning against further raids from Oriente forces, the raid on Shuen Wan saw the Capellan forces use a number of tactical nuclear weapons.[48][49] Intelligence assets employed by Chandrasekhar Kurita on Shuen Wan indicated that the Capellan forces destroyed a dockyard belonging to the Draconis Combine shipping company Isesaki Shipping during their nuclear artillery strikes.[50]
With the Free Worlds League's dissolution in 3079 Shuen Wan became an independent planet.[37]
Dark Age[edit]
By the early thirty-second century, Shuen Wan had become part of the Oriente Protectorate.[39]
Between February and April, 3104, Shuen Wan was conquered by the CCAF following Oriente's invasion of the Confederation during the Victoria War.[51]
