The Federated Commonwealth requested a design to compete against the Clans' artillery support 'Mech, the Naga. TriTech won the contract to produce five hundred of the new Avatar BattleMechs.

While its 9 tons of armour allows it to withstand fire from only light or medium 'Mechs.
Armament
The Avatar's main weapon is its Arrow IV Artillery for indirect fire and an Defiance 1001 ER PPC for direct fire. This is supported by three Defiance B3M Medium Lasers for close range capabilities.
