History
Formed to destabilize the Inner Sphere, Bartlett's Boxers was a Republic of the Sphere covert operations unit guised as a mercenary unit.[1][2] Not all members were aware of the truth behind the unit; initial recruits were gathered behind The Wall,[3] but later recruits hired outside often knew the Boxers only as mercenaries.[2] It was possible for said recruits to learn about their Republic affiliation.[4]
In 3150, the Boxers were tasked with preventing the excavation of the SLDF 295th BattleMech Division on Buffalo Meadows, in order to stop the 'Mechs from being used against the Republic.[5] On Buffalo Meadows, they fought the mercenary unit La Grande Armée. Although the Boxers established a bridgehead successfully, their attack on the excavation ended in defeat. [6]
