Charles Marik (Born 2175 - Died 2251)[1] Politician, the founder of both the Republic of Marik & later Marik Commonwealth.

Character Description
Charles's publically in his earlier years as shy and unassuming. However, he was political maverick whom applied aggressively with his skills to get what he wants.[2]
Character History
Terran Alliance Senator
Originally a successful business man as part of the Marik Clan's interstellar conglomerate, Charles became a senator for Marik. Through his years in the Terran Alliance's senate, his most noted event was his reaction to the violence in the colonies.
This event provided a opportunity for Charles, when the Outer Reaches Rebellion broke out in 2235. He had forewarned his fellow senators of lack of political flexibility handling the violence in the colonies would lead to trouble.[3]
After the elections, the Terran Alliance government in 2237 ordered the military pull out of the colonies. Seeing where winds of change were blowing, Charles decided Marik would be better off with the elements of the Rebellion and declared Marik independence a year later.[4]
Independence of Marik & formation of its Republic & Commonwealth
On Marik, Charles maneuvered behind the political scenes trying assert his frame work for planetary government by his design. He conduct backroom deals that would prevent his rivals for instituting a strong central government under guidelines of their Klondyke Constitution. By 2241, had outmaneuvered pro-business agenda Klondyke's backer Marik Senator Allard Karsegian though bribery.[5]
The signing of the Marik Constitution marked the formation of the four world nation, Republic of Marik. Now leader of the Republic, he begun series of talks to gather other worlds to join the Republic. After four years of failed diplomatic exchanges, Charles feeling strongly about how nation needed be order military campaign bring these worlds under Republic heel in 2245. He and his sons begun a military campaigns, which in its first year, Charles's forces captured the world of Atreus. With the capture of this planet, Charles's alliance remade itself into Marik Commonwealth. He and his sons continued a military campaigns that brought 20 worlds under aegis of Commonwealth by 2271.[6] During the course of the campaign, Charles retired and turn the title of Duke to his son, Deltev.[7]
Family & Legacy
Charles had two sons, Alonzo & Deltev. His granddaughter Marianne Marik marriage and children would lead to formation of the Free Worlds League.[8]
