Description
A Command Van can technically refer to any type of enclosed all-terrain vehicle (ATV) used for military or civilian command purposes. The base model for many 'Mech units' command van is a six-wheeled ATV equipped with a variety of gear for command purposes. As it is lightly armed and armored, under normal circumstances during battle the vehicle is far away from the frontlines.[1]
Weapons and Equipment
The command van is equipped for self defense usually with an LRM-5 in a roof-mounted turret and a front-facing Machine Gun. It is protected by 4 tons of armor spread evenly across its surface, slightly increased in the forward zone, though the turret is not as well armored. One ton of ammunition each for the LRM-5 and machine gun are carried internally. The van contains medical equipment for first aid, computer tracking systems, and communication systems for surface to surface and surface to orbit transmissions.
