Description
The Corx Mobile Tunnel Miner has been the mainstay of interstellar exploration and mining operations since New Earth was established as a colony. Their designs have changed very little over the near-millenia since their first inception. They can be found near almost all major mining operations or colonization efforts.[1]
Armament & Features
The Corx Mobile Tunnel Miner is capable of hauling up to 16.8 tons of liquids, which are connected to the sprayers spread across its chassis. They are used to keep the drilling equipment from overheating due to friction. In addition the MTM comes standard with a full environmental seal, enabling it to work in adverse conditions such as underwater or on an asteroid.[1]
The MTM is equipped with a turret, which contains the mining drill as well as two small lasers more suitable for mining then defense, as an attacker at laser range would be far more threatened by the rock cutter or drill.[1]
Variants
There are very few variants on the Terex-Schaeff MTM design, since it has proven so effective at its task.[1]
