David Paul Liao, also known as Paul David Liao, was the second son of Elias Liao.
History[edit]
David Paul had an older brother, Rufus, and two sisters, Carmen and Margarette. Both of Rufus' sisters were killed during Elias' escape from Terra, and Rufus died soon after the Liao family settled on the world of Cynthiana.[1]
Despite being the only surviving son of Elias, David Paul wasn't declared President of the Liao Republic when his father died; instead, the Presidency passed to David Paul's son, Victor.[2][3] David Paul died in 2206, four years after his father and brother.[1]
Published Works[edit]
David Paul authored a number of works published by Capellan Institute Press, including:
- A biography of his father, called Elias Liao: My Father, in 2241.[4]
- A first person account of the colonization of Cynthiana (i.e. later renamed Liao), called Cynthiana Colony Log, 2189, in 2242.[5]

Although the family tree in House Liao (The Capellan Confederation) shows Rufus and David Paul as the two sons of Elias Liao, and Victor as the son of David Paul and grandson of Elias,[1] Handbook: House Liao describes the renaming of the planet Cynthiana to Liao after Elias' death as being "opposed by his sons Victor and David Paul." It is not currently known which source is correct.[2]
