The Gift Horse was an AML JumpShip of the IlClan Era.

Operational History

The Gift Horse story is that of two JumpShips, both of Invader-Class. One, unnamed, was in active service with Clan Hells Horses forces. The other was being built at the Clan Jade Falcon Butler Shipyards. Both JumpShips finished together in April 3152.[1] The Hells Horses decided to attack and take Butler's shipyards, and as the Alyina Mercantile League, the newly born mercantile state which controled it, was seen by the Horses as a chalcas abomination, they sent only a solahma aerospace Trinary to attack it. It clearly proved a mistake, as the system was defended by the capellan-origin Mercenary unit Light of Heaven. They had hidden inside the AML's emputy Invader-hull, and their surprise attack easily destroyed or captured the Horses DropShips. They pursued the Horses Invader, and bombarded its bridge with capital missiles, ensuring it never jump away.[2] The Shipyards personnel quickly exploited the opportunity this victory represents: the construction Invader's K-F core hadn't been scheduled for completion in two months, but the Horses Invader was there, so their loot it, completing the construction invader. The yardmaster asked permission to his superiors to name the ship, and received it. The newly built JumpShip was named AMLS Gift Horse, a ironical joke and an insult against Clan Hell's Horses.[3]
