The Butler system was home to at least one habitable world, Butler III, and as of 3145 was located in the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Butler system is located near the Trell I and Waldorff systems[2][3] and consists of a class M1V primary orbited by at least three planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the system nadir jump point. Established in orbit above Butler III in the 3060s were the Butler Ship Yards, a JumpShip manufacturing facility.[1]

System History[edit]

The Butler system was settled during or shortly before the Age of War and by the eve of the Star League era Butler was a part of the Lyran Commonwealth.[4][5]

Planetary History[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

In May 3050, Clan Jade Falcon invaded Butler as part of the Second Wave of Operation REVIVAL, sending the Fourth Falcon Velites to face off against the survivors of Winfield's Regiment. Knowing his men were hopelessly outmatched Leftenant-General Davis Winfield answered Star Colonel Evak Mattlov's batchall with a challenge to personal combat. Impressed by his opponent's courage the Star Colonel agreed and the two met on the field of battle with their units looking on, Mattlov in his Dire Wolf and Winfield in his Atlas. The fight was going in the general's favor when a lucky laser hit disabled his gyro and Winfield's Atlas fell over, knocking him unconscious. Enraged by the fall of their commander Winfield's Regiment opened fire on the Jade Falcons and in the ensuing battle were wiped out. General Winfield would later regain consciousness at a Jade Falcon medical unit, was saluted for his bravery in the duel and informed of his new status as bondsman.[16]
