Description

The Horned Owl (or Peregrine, as the Inner Sphere knows it) is a light, fast second-line BattleMech capable of highly accurate fire. A harassing platform, the Horned Owl is also a capable dueling 'Mech. Five tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor provide adequate protection for the light 'Mech.

Armament

Armed with a single Large Pulse Laser and a Medium Pulse Laser in each arm, the Horned Owl's devastatingly accurate fire can quickly destroy other light 'Mechs.

Variants

Horned Owl 2 - This variant trades in its lasers for six LRM-5s and four tons of ammunition. Though it is entirely ammunition-dependent, this model can provide light Stars with sustained support, as it will not build heat under normal circumstances. BV (1.0) = 1,232

Horned Owl 3 - A real-world error skipped "3" and moved the Project Phoenix version to 4. So far, there has been no Peregrine 3.

Horned Owl 4 - Almost a complete redesign, the Horned Owl was redone by Clan Goliath Scorpion after they took over the Abysmal continent on Huntress. The 'Mech is no longer so neatly rounded, but it makes up for that with four ATM 3s and an ER Medium Laser. Three tons of ammunition allow the pilot access to all of the ATM's modes of fire, and it runs cool. BV (1.0) = 1,241

Horned Owl 5 - Ironically, the Scorpion's first attempt at redesigning the Horned Owl was not well received by their Warrior caste, but an all-energy version is ideal for their Seekers. Armed with an ER Large Laser in each arm and a center-line Heavy Medium Laser, this model can essentially operate indefinitely, though its pilot must be wary of heat buildup, despite the added double heat sink.
