History

The mercenary unit La Grande Armée began as deserters, abandoning the Dieudonné militia. Their leader, Nicholas Davout, shaped the unit in the image of Napoleon's Grande Armée, organizing it in the Napoleonic structure and giving it a paint scheme akin to Napoleonic uniforms. [1] Over at least four years of mercenary service,[1] La Grande Armée took small contracts, its commander developing a reputation for reliability [2]

In 3150, the unit was hired by the Federated Suns to oversee the excavation of the SLDF 295th BattleMech Division on Buffalo Meadows.[3][4] For this job, La Grande Armée was supplied with almost a company of 'Mechs, doubling the unit's size to the equivalent of two companies.[4]. In defense of the excavation, La Grande Armée fended off an attack by Bartlett's Boxers.[5].

La Grande Armée used a paint scheme modeled after the uniform of Napoleon's soldiers: white legs and front torso, a 'jacket' of dark blue arms and rear torso, and red trim on the upper body.[7][1]
