Marco Moliotti was the 2815 to 2818 Solaris Games Grand Champion.

History & Tactics

Marco Moliotti was a model for gallant and honorable 'Mech combat for centuries to come. He combined fierce competitiveness with a deep reverence for BattleMechs (never inflicted more damage than necessary) and their pilots (he never killed an opponent). He sponsored several new MechWarrior, donated heavily to charities and treated his opponents with an impeccable sense of sportsmanship. He retired with honors in 2818, and even today, a bequest from Moliotti continues to fund an annual scholarship to the Lyran Commonwealth's prestigious Nagelring Military Academy. His victory over Cabol Hirsch during Solaris VII Grand Tournament on 2815 is still remembered, as the press conference held after that fight. He defended the title for four years until deciding to retire.

Following his retirement from the Games, Moliotti settled somewhere around Solaris VII's Avalon Sea. Shortly before he disappeared, Moliotti was reported to have said that he saw an island rising out of the mists, a haven for honorable and gallant MechWarriors such as himself. Moliotti apparently felt he would soon be laid to rest on that island, surrounded by other warriors who'd laid aside their 'Mechs who watched over their pilots. Marco Moliotti would disappear two months later, presumed dead in the wilderness. Moliotti's legend of Avalon would be often repeated in the centuries afterwards most frequently in Black Hills, with many Federated Suns loyalists feeling it plays upon their capital of New Avalon and the old Arthurian myth.
