Description
The Morrigan is a Light BattleMech that was by Clan Nova Cat just after the Jihad. The Nova Cats conceived the Morrigan to meet the need for new Scout 'Mech, they received technical and material support from the Draconis Combine who access to the design as well. Politics wrangling among the Nova Cats and Draconis Combine, kept this production numbers low. The design was deployed as part of the Nova Cat's Second Line troops, and Combine sent to their elite.
For its role as a scout, the 'Mech has been equipped with a Active Probe search out hidden targets. Its XL Fusion engine allows for the design reach high speeds, which helps make up for lack of Jump Jets. The Morrigan's hull is protected by 5.5 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.[2]
Armament
The 'Mech's main hard hitting weapon is its Model X Heavy Large Laser. To accommodate the Heavy Laser is its three ATM 3 Missile Launchers, which 3 tons of ammunition has been allotted to it. With only 20 Double Heat Sinks, a MechWarrior would needs careful from overheating the machine.[3]
Variants
- Morrigan 2 - This is an all energy weapon variant of Morrigan designed for Draconis Combine's use. The ATM 3s are removed and switched out for pair of ER Medium Lasers and Small Pulse Lasers. A Targeting Computer, heat sinks and additional armor round up the additional changes to this variant. BV(2.0)=????[4]
- Morrigan 3 - This is a Experimental Tech variant, which is based on first Combine variant. This removes the Heavy Laser and Targeting Computer for an experimental BattleMech Taser. BV(2.0)=????[5]
