The blue i for information seems reasonable to me.  Also the bell icon blue may work too.  The clock is used for morotorium and tends to suggest a status that may expire over time, so I think I would refrain from using the clock.  I concur with keeping away from the color red, and that blue would present a neutral color. --Dude RB (talk) 19:58, 29 May 2022 (EDT)

While the iconopgraphy is what immediately attracted attention, I do think it is also worth asking whether a banner is even appropriate for this.  Based on past experience and also perusing Help:Template gallery, it seems that banners are reserved for matters concerning editing, e.g., the article needs to be merged or deleted, contains apocryphal content, lacks citations, or the article concerns a product under moratorium and so editors need to restrict what information is used.  In other words a banner indicates that something is wrong or incomplete about the article (or noteworthy in the case of the featured article tag) or communicates a special alert to editors who may edit or cite the page.  A rulebook being superseded is not a defect of the article nor does it seem to qualify as an editor alert.  So the use of a banner seems out of place for this.  --Dude RB (talk) 06:31, 30 May 2022 (EDT)

:I agree. There is no good "in wiki" reason why the Battledroids article needs a link directing readers to the latest ruleset. A link in the infobox to the ruleset that superceded it is all the wiki actually needs in my opinion.--Dmon (talk) 08:55, 30 May 2022 (EDT)

Iconography

I just noticed this template appearing on Battledroids. The banner comes across a bit harsh with a big red x. It almost makes it seems like it is non-canonical. Is there a way to soften (or perhaps simply remove) the iconography? From a product point of view (and a collector's point of view), these are still official products and worth noting for their (real-life) historical background to the game. --Dude RB (talk) 17:04, 29 May 2022 (EDT)

Agreed, this sends the wrong message. Let's ditch the red and perhaps go with an hourglass?--Talvin (talk) 17:06, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
or a fast forward symbol ⏩ --Dude RB (talk) 17:17, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
That could work, too.--Talvin (talk) 17:21, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
The icons that I use come from [this gallery here] this is to establish a standard across all templates. I am more than willing to change it to anyone of those or attempt to look for one done in the same style --Deadfire (talk) 17:44, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
One of the blues, I am thinking, either the Blue Clock (since I suggested hourglass), Blue Alert, Blue i for information, what says the community here?--Talvin (talk) 17:55, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
The blue clock is currently not used, as well I would change its background to grey in order for it to match the 2 other "Product Notices" that exist (that both use Clocks as well)--Deadfire (talk) 18:13, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
I don't insist on the grey, but Red should be reserved for warning people away from something entirely, and many people still prefer older rulesets. Something outside the Red/Yellow/Green family is needed for this.--Talvin (talk) 18:18, 29 May 2022 (EDT)

A point I had not considered about the clock, I withdraw that suggestion in favor of the blue i.--Talvin (talk) 20:06, 29 May 2022 (EDT)
Since this is happening I think it should go in with the product notices and be Grey. I quite strongly believe that the tags should be a bit like roadsigns, you can guess what type of info it is before you even read it.--Dmon (talk) 08:47, 30 May 2022 (EDT)

The Banner Itself

I agree. There is no good "in wiki" reason why the Battledroids article needs a link directing readers to the latest ruleset. A link in the infobox to the ruleset that superceded it is all the wiki actually needs in my opinion.--Dmon (talk) 08:55, 30 May 2022 (EDT)
