The core members of The Wylde Cards are from the planet Skye, where rebellion and treachery are commonplace. If you ask any Lyran, that is. But, these individuals are a step above, and most were drummed out of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces because they did not get along with their commanders. Hunter Jameson Wylde made it to Hauptmann, in the 7th Donegal Guards, due in part to a diligent Kommandant named Oberon Blair, who saw his potential as a company commander. Sadly, his commission was cut short, by a ring-knocking socialite Colonel, named Johan Kant-Steiner; who didn’t like the fact that Wylde was far more competent and refused to be one of his boot-lickers; brought trumped-up charges against him. As a sign of solidarity, most of Wylde’s command resigned their commissions and traveled with him to Galatea, to find work as mercenaries. Once there, and with their mechs, they soon gathered up recruits from other merc commands that were no longer in fighting shape. They named themselves the Wylde Cards, after a game of poker; where Hunter won, spectacularly, with a “Dead Man’s Hand” against the commander of Horsa’s Howlers, Hauptman Benedict Horsa; who had despised Wylde since.

Recruited by Kurita, much to the chagrin of most of the officers, Hunter had shrugged and said, "A contract is a contract, and we won't be placed on the Lyran front, and fight against those we used to fight alongside. Which leaves us fighting the Fedrats, and I'm okay with that."

Unfortunately this did not save them when they faced Horsa's Howlers' heavy and assault mech battalion in open combat. But, this was not without a minor victory for The '''Wylde Cards''', the death of Benedict Horsa. In a desperate last stand to save what remained of The '''Wylde Cards''', Hunter turned and performed an "Alpha Strike" against Horsa's mech, a Banshee, during that, a round from the Shadow Hawk's AC/5 struck the cockpit of the Banshee, sending Horsa into a rage, and he charged Hunter with the plan of ripping Hunter's Shadow Hawk apart. Hunter then performed a Death From Above against Horsa's Banshee, dropping almost entirely onto the cockpit, killing Horsa and stopping the Howlers' advance. After the battle, the remnants of The '''Wylde Cards''' returned to the
