The short story Welcome to the Land of Dreams by Herbert A. Beas II was first published in MechWarrior's Guide to the Clans.
Plot summary
On Strana Mechty, Oystein Tannerbaum and part of the Inner Sphere delegation are visiting a marketplace with his escort, Star Commander Randall, when a Ghost Bear Elemental tries to challenge Oystein. Randall steps in and does not allow the fight, asking for a Circle of Equals to the elemental. The fight is quick, and though Randall gets a few punches, he makes the Elemental fall into a trap and leave the circle, hence loosing the battle.
