Description[edit]

The Goshawk II is a medium BattleMech built by Clan Snow Raven in the mid-3080s. Based on the heavier Vapor Eagle, also known as the Goshawk, it is produced on the Inner Sphere world of Dante. The Goshawk II was designed as a second-line BattleMech for use exclusively by the Ravens.[1]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Goshawk II is built on a weight saving GS-2E endo steel chassis, which mounts a 315-rated XL engine that can push the mech up to 118.8 km/h. This high speed is enhanced with the inclusion of seven SR Starlifter 45 jump jets, allowing the 'Mech to leap up to 210 meters in a single leap. Additionally, the Goshawk II has been designed to deal with new threats from the Inner Sphere's improved electronics by fitting an ECM suite to help cut down an opponent's advantages. The 'Mech is protected by nine tons of Raven Comp A standard armor.[1]

The Goshawk II's only long range weapon is its Series 6b ER large laser mounted in the right arm. The rest of its weaponry is intended for close combat, where it employs a pair of Series 4c small pulse lasers in the left arm and torso, and six Series 3c micro pulse lasers spread between the left arm, right arm, and head. This weaponry is guided by a targeting computer, allowing the 'Mech to snipe at significant range. The heat level generated by the 'Mech is kept within limits by ten double heat sinks.[1]

Variants[edit]

  • Goshawk II
This Goshawk II variant, developed in 3086[4], intended for anti-infantry work. It replaces the small pulse lasers mounted in the left arm and torso with two ER flamers. BV (2.0) = 1,767[5][4]
