Herald of Justice
|Herald of Justice|
One of many WarShips to be disabled and abandoned or lost during the Star League era or the early Succession Wars, the Aegis-class heavy cruiser later known as the Herald of Justice was one of a number of ships recovered by the Word of Blake and restored to working order in secret.
The WoBS Herald of Justice was one of eight Aegis-class cruisers to serve in the Blakist fleet during the Jihad; prior to the Jihad, the only Aegis known to be operating within the Blakist black water navy was the WoBS Immortal Spirit, but the Word of Blake had secretly recovered three additional Aegis-class heavy cruisers from sites around the Inner Sphere such as the abandoned Star League Defense Force facility known as the Ruins of Gabriel and restored them to operational status. These three Aegis were the Herald of Justice, the WoBS Herald of Retribution and the WoBS Herald of Wisdom.
In October 3067 the Herald of Justice was positioned in the outskirts of the New Avalon system along with two other Blakist WarShips, the Riga-class frigate WoBS Red Angel and the Essex-class destroyer WoBS Divine Forgiveness with orders to jump to New Avalon and reveal themselves as the new defenders of the Federated Suns capital world after the Word of Blake had been accepted into the Second Star League. The collapse of the Second Star League ahead of the vote saw the three ships issued new orders; to punish the Federated Suns. WarShips from the AFFS - the Fox-class corvettes FSS Antrim and FSS Bryceland - attempted to interdict the Blakist fleet as it approached New Avalon, and managed to cripple and then destroy the WoBS Herald of Justice via suicidal collisions but despite the heavy fighting in space the AFFS could not prevent the Word from bombarding Avalon City and dropping almost a division of ground troops onto the city.
