Kommandant Jens Mündler was the commander of a Battalion of the Fifth Lyran Guards, with the Lyran Commonwealth, during the Dark Age era.[1][2][3]

Prior to the Blackout, during Pax Republic, Mündler's unit hosted a military exchange program with the Draconis Combine. Meeting Genyosha MechWarrior Sho-sa Christian Cichutek as a result of this program, the two struck up an unlikely but close and longstanding friendship, after the Lyran world they were stationed on was attacked by terrorists. Fighting side by side during this crisis, the two each saved each others lives.[3]
Famed for his strategic skill and acerbic wit, when asked by Fifth Lyran CO Leutnant-General Eugen Hasseldorf prior to the invasion of Niihau by the Wolf Empire in 3142 what it would take to defend the world, Mündler replied by requesting an outfit of Daishi OmniMechs. While Mündler ultimately didn't manage to hold Niihau, he did manage to survive to escape back to Lyran held space, which was considered a testament to his marksmanship and piloting ability.[1][2]
BattleMech[edit]
Mündler was known to prefer to pilot a Zeus X BattleMech. This choice allow Mündler's communications officer to assist in running his Battalion, leaving Mündler free to engage enemies directly.[1][2]
