Karl Gustavson was, as of 3091, a Chu-i in the DCMS and a MechWarrior in the Palace Guard on Sertar.[1]
History[edit]
For years, Shugo Kalma Luhon sought popularity among the Sertar masses, including by taking an apparent personal role in fighting rivals and pirates. In reality, Karl Gustavson, an experienced MechWarrior deeply loyal to Luhon, secretly fought in his stead. Gustavson was humble and had no greater political aspirations, but when fights came under control, he had a flair for the dramatic. He had a friendly relationship with the rest of the palace guard. Outside the cockpit, Gustavson served as a de facto bodyguard for Luhon in public appearances, and kept an eye out for any threats.[1]
In June 3091, four members of the mercenary unit Isaac's Incendiary attempted to assassinate or otherwise incapacitate Gustavson hours before a 'pirate' attack, to force Luhon to fight and bring about his public humiliation. Whether the attempt succeeded is unknown.[1][2]
BattleMechs[edit]
Officially, Gustavson's assigned 'Mech was a DMO-4K Daimyo. However, Gustavson secretly piloted Kalma Luhon's DRG-5K Grand Dragon in combat.[1]
