The Kittery Manifesto was a declaration, whose authorship was widely but not definitively attributed to Devlin Stone, which was published in June 3071.[1]
Overview[edit]
First broadcast across Kittery on 9 June 3071, the Kittery Manifesto outlined the political vision of the anti-Word of Blake resistance movement which formed following the prisoner escape from the RBMU 105 Word of Blake reeducation center, led by Devlin Stone.[1] The Manifesto, which was considered populist democratic poison by figures such as Pierre Grandin III in 3078[2], was often distributed by agents of Stone's Coalition to worlds under Blakist control such as Terra Firma in early 3076.[3] It also inspired pro-Stone resistance and protest movements on worlds such as Terra Firma and Genoa, where it become a rallying document for student protest leaders such as Michael Peterson.[4]
The text of the Manifesto denounced the original Star League, blaming its founding for the aggression and territorial expansion which marked the Inner Sphere ever since it fall, including the Succession Wars and Clan Invasion. It then proposed a new order be established, which transcended the national and ethnic loyalties of old, and would usher in a new age of peace.[5]
