Major General Sir Lance Helmick was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's XVIII Corps from 2753 to at least 2764.[1]
History[edit]
Born on New Olympia, Helmick was a loyal son of the Free Worlds League, and dedicated to his Corps role as one of its protectors.
A graduate of West Point Military Academy on Terra, he started his SLDF career in an armor platoon, before quickly rising through the ranks after showing a commitment to leading from the front. However in 2747 he was gravely injured in an explosion at an ammunition dump, which put an end to his time as a field commander. Despite this handicap, his inspiring leadership was enough to justify a promotion to lead XVIII Corps, which he took command of in 2753.
His close relationship with his home province, the Marik Commonwealth, also helped keep his Corps well supplied as he was able to bypass the restrictions placed on other SLDF units.[1]
