History[edit]

As of 3057, the Vincent Mk. 42-class corvette Lightning Strike was serving as the CJF Lightning Strike in the Clan Jade Falcon touman in the Clan Jade Falcon Naval Reserve.[1]

As of 3059, the Lightning Strike was still serving in the Clan Jade Falcon touman.[2] The Lightning Strike would continue to be an active part of the touman throughout the next decade[3] and into the beginnings of the Jihad.

In January 3069, the Lightning Strike was part of the Jade Falcon force that invaded Black Earth, and was responsible - alongside another Jade Falcon WarShip, a Congress-class frigate - for the destruction of the Kerensky's Blues, a Fredasa-class WarShip operated by the Blue Star Irregulars.[4][5]

With the Irregulars' forces shattered during the fighting on the planet, the Kerensky's Blues was escorting fleeing Irregulars DropShips and civilian refugee ships to JumpShips waiting to evacuate them when the Lightning Strike and accompanying Congress attacked the JumpShips and DropShips. The Kerensky's Blues attempted to block the two Jade Falcon vessels, engaging the Lightning Strike first despite already being damaged. The Kerensky's Blues managed to disable or drive off the Lightning Strike, but was unable to prevent the Congress from butchering most of the fleeing Irregulars and then destroying the Kerensky's Blues in turn.[4][5]

Destruction[edit]

The CJF Lightning Strike was subsequently destroyed in July 3071 during a significant naval battle over the world of Somerset fought between the Jade Falcons and forces from Clan Ice Hellion during the Ice Hellion invasion of the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[6] Operating as a part of the Falcon Stoop Naval Star the Lightning Strike worked with the Texas-class battleship CJF Falcon's Nest to disable the Essex-class destroyer CIH Moore's Honor[7] before the Lightning Strike was destroyed;[8][6] also destroyed in the same engagement was the Aegis-class heavy cruiser CIH Taney.[6]
