Sakurai was a native of Styx, and despite rising from the streets to become a MechWarrior, remained very conscious of civilian casualties. During the War of 3039 while serving with the Fourth Ghost Regiment as a Busosenshi, she managed four kills while defending St. Christina’s Hospital, which was later used by the DCMS to care for injured soldiers.[1][2]
Later during the Word of Blake Jihad, while assigned as the Combine military attaché to ComStar on Orestes, Chu-sa Sakurai again focused on saving civilian lives. Working with local police and militia to keep the streets safe from roving warbands, she twice nearly lost her 'Mech to damage while protecting civilian shelters, only to be saved at the last moment by militia reinforcements.[3]
