The unit was under contract from the Capellan Confederation in 3144 to carry a battalion of the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry and their supplies to New Hessen. After their job was completed, the CCAF refused to honor their contract and instead offered the same pittance awarded to conscripted merchant ships. This started a huge discussion that devolved into a screaming match that the Capellans tried to solve by confiscating all of the unit's assets. At that moment, a hidden cargo bay on the mercenary unit's Mammoth-class DropShip released a single lance of Archers. Those 'Mechs, covered by their DropShip, proceeded to tear through the lightly defended LZ, looting most of the supplies they had delivered, and left the zone mined with Thunder LRMs. With a high price on their heads, the unit jumped to Draconis Combine space and kept working.[1]
In 3151, the Stevedores finished their contract with the Combine and returned to Galatea to find another one. They didn't have long to wait. Factor Kyung Mi, of the newly born state, the Alyina Mercantile League, was searching for mercs but lacked enough ships to carry them all. The Stevedores solved that: they signed a contract with the AML, providing both their services and their impressive transport assets to carry the other contracted units to Alyina.[2]
