A subtype of the [[:Category:Transport DropShip classes|Transport DropShip]] concept, Troop Transport [[DropShip]]s are military vessels designed to carry military personnell—typically [[infantry]], with or without [[battle armor]]—into action, including deploying them in a combat zone or deploying troops for boarding operations in space. In this they differ from the usually civilian [[:Category:Passenger DropShip classes|Passenger DropShips]] which are geared for comfortable travel, but are typically unarmed. Many troop transporters carry vehicles as well.
