As of ca. 3025, Karns was involved in the medical evacuation of Ardan Sortek from Stein's Folly by a Lyran Commonwealth DropShip after the Lyran's ally, the Federated Suns, had recaptured that world from the Capellans. During the subsequent treatment on Tharkad, Sortek told a wholly unbelievable conspiracy story about a doppelgänger of Hanse Davion that he had seen while heavily drugged as a Capellan captive.
Melissa Steiner personally found out that Karns, the doctor treating Sortek, had highly dubious contacts. Death
